Peach Sands Cardi

The Peach Sands Cardi boasts an exquisite all-over Ridge stitch pattern, intricately adorned with decorative vertical Twist Stitch motifs. These motifs evoke imagery reminiscent of the serene coastal landscape, where the gentle caress of water, the whispering wind, and the delicate formation of tiny twigs inspire the intricate design.

Three-Needle-Bind-Off

Hold the wrong sides of the knitting together, the seam will be on the outside of the fabric.

  1. Hold the two pieces of knitting together with the needle points facing to the right.
  2. Insert the third needle into the first stitch on each of the needles knitwise, starting with the front needle.
  3. Work a knit stitch, pulling the loop through both of the stitches you’ve inserted the third needle through.
  4. After you’ve pulled the loop through, slip the first stitch off of each of the needles. This takes two stitches (one from the front needle and one from the back) and joins them to make one finished stitch on the third needle (held in your right hand).
  5. Repeat this motion, inserting your needle into one stitch on the front and back needles, knitting them together and slipping them off of the needles. Each time you complete a second stitch, pass the first finished stitch over the second and off of the needle (as you would in a traditional bind-off).

Sewn Bind Off

Cut the working yarn to about 3 times as long as your finished piece of knitting, and thread yarn onto a blunt needle.

*Pass the threaded needle through the first 2 sts from right to left.

Pass the threaded needle through the first st on the knitting needle from left to right. Drop the first st off the knitting needle.

Rep from * until 1 st remains.

Sew through this last st from right to left.

Pattern Notes

This cardigan is worked as one piece from the bottom up to armholes. Then back and fronts are worked separately with short rows shaped dropped shoulders.

The patch pockets are worked separately and tacked to the front panels afterwords, using the ridge lines as the reference for lining up. Use the right pocket position according to your preference. To avoid extra yarn ends, make sure to leave the long enough yarn ends at CO and after BO points, so they could be used for sewing the pocket onto body.

If desired, shoulders could be connected with grafting method, known as Kitchener stitch.
