Materials

Super fine weight yarnYarn: Katia United Socks (75% wool, 25% polyamide; 109 yards [100 meters]/25 grams): Color 14 Rose (3 (3, 3, 4, 4) balls)

Hook/Needles: US size 1.5 (2.5 mm) 10” circular needles or dpn.

Notions: Markers, stitch holder, cable needle, tapestry needle.

Special Stitches

2 st cable – slip next st to cable needle and place at front of work, k1, slip st from cable needle to right needle.

Pattern Notes

These socks are worked in the round from cuff to toe.

Pattern

Cuff

CO 63 (70, 70, 77, 77) sts. Join to work in the round. Pm at the beg of the rnd.
Rnd 1-2: [P1, k5, p1] to end.

Work in pattern according to chart: 9 (10, 10, 11, 11) repetitions of 7 sts. Work rnds 1-8 of the chart 3 times.

Distribute sts as follows:

Next rnd: Work 7 sts in pattern from chart, [p1, k5, p1] 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) times, work 14 sts in pattern from chart (2 repetitions), [p1, k5, p1] 3 (3, 3, 4, 4) times, work 7 sts in pattern from chart.

Continue working in established pattern. Work rnds 1-8 of the chart 3 times.

Next rnd: Work 7 sts in pattern from chart, [p1, k5, p1] 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) times, work 7 sts in pattern from chart, place next 35 (35, 35, 42, 42) sts on the stitch holder.

Heel

Continue working back and forth in established pattern (28 (35, 35, 35, 35) sts). Work rows 1-8 of the chart 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) times.

Next row (RS): [P1, k5, p1] to end.

Next row (WS): [K1, p5, k1] to end.

Work in established pattern until the heel measures 2 (2.25, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75)”, ending after RS row. With RS facing, pm 14 (18, 18, 18, 18) sts after the beg of the row. The foot length will be measured from here.

Heel Turn

Work in short rows:

Row 1 (WS): Work in established pattern to marker, p3, p2tog, p1, turn.

Row 2 (RS): K8 (7, 7, 7, 7), ssk, k1, turn.

Row 3: Purl to 1 st before gap, p2tog, p1, turn.

Row 4: Knit to 1 st before gap, ssk, k1, turn.

Repeat rows 3-4 until 3 (5, 5, 5, 5) more times. (18 (21, 21, 21, 21) sts)

Foot

Continue to work in the round with RS facing.

Rnd 1: Pick up and knit 13 (14, 14, 15, 16) st along edge of heel flap, pick up 1 st in the gap between the heel and instep, place held sts from stitch holder back to working needles and work them in pattern from chart (5 (5, 5, 6, 6) repetitions of 7 sts), pick up 1 st in the gap between the instep and heel, pick up and knit 13 (14, 14, 15, 16) st along edge of heel flap, knit to marker. (81 (86, 86, 95, 97) sts)

Rnd 2: K21 (23, 23, 24, 25) sts, pm, p1, p2tog, k5, [p2, k5] 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) times, p2tog, p1, pm, k21 (24, 24, 25, 26) sts. (79 (84, 84, 93, 95) sts)

Rnd 3: Knit to marker, p1, work 35 (35, 35, 42, 42) sts in pattern from chart, continuing from rnd 3, p1, knit to end.

Rnd 4: Knit to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, p1, work in pattern from chart to 1 sts before marker, p1, ssk, knit to end. (77 (82, 82, 91, 93) sts)

Repeat last 2 rnds 6 (6, 5, 7, 8) more times. (65 (70, 72, 77, 77) sts)

Size XS only:

Next rnd: Knit to marker, p1, work 7 sts inpattern from chart, [p1, k5, p1], 3 times, work 7 sts in pattern from chart, p1, knit to end.

Work 22 (24, 24, 24, 24) rnds in established pattern (ending after rnd 8 of the chart).

Toe

Move the second marker 1 st forward and the third marker 1 st backward (35 (35, 35, 42, 42) sts between markers above the foot and 28 (35, 37, 35, 35) sts between markers under the foot)

Sizes XS (–, –, L, XL) only:

Rnd 1: Knit to 1 st before marker, p2, k2tog, work in established pattern to 3 sts before marker, ssk, p2, knit to end. (61 (–, –, 75, 75) sts)

Rnd 2: Work even in established pattern.

Repeat rnds 1-2 two more times. ((57 (–, –, 71, 71) sts))

Size – (–, M, –, –) only:

Rnd 1: Knit to 3 sts before marker, ssk, p2, work in established pattern to 1 st before marker, p2, k2tog, knit to end. (– (–, 70, –, –) sts)

Cut the yarn and pull it through all the remaining stitches, tighten up and fasten the yarn on the WS.

Finishing

Make the second sock. Weave in yarn ends. Block to the measurements.
