Sugar, stripes and everything nice, this pillow is inspired by the pastel shades of French macarons. Wavy stripes add interest to this simple and cozy design.

Size: 16” [40.5 cm] square
Gauge: 20 sts and 21 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern lightly blocked.
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Cascade 220 (100% Peruvian Highland Wool; 220 yards [201 meters]/100 grams): 9641 Purple Tourmaline (MC, 1 skein), 4192 Soft Pink (CC, 1 skein)
Needles: US size 7 (4.5mm) 24” circular needles
Notions: Tapestry needle, nine 0.5” buttons, one 16” square cushion pad.

Waves Pattern
Rnd 1: *Using MC k7, using CC k3; rep from * to end.
Rnd 2: *Using CC k1, using MC k5, using CC k4; rep from * to end.
Rnd 3: *Using CC k2, using MC k3, using CC k5; rep from * to end.
Rnd 4: *Using CC k7, using MC k3; rep from * to end.
Rnd 5: *Using MC k1, using CC k5, using MC k4; rep from * to end.
Rnd 6: *Using MC k2, using CC k3, using MC k5; rep from * to end.
Rep Rnds 1-6 for patt.
Pattern
Using MC, CO 160 sts, join to work in the rnd being careful not to twist.
Using MC, knit 2 rnds.
Join CC and work Rnds 1-6 of Waves Pattern 13 times.
Upper edge
Using MC, knit 1 rnd.
Using MC, BO 80 sts, k to end. (80 sts)
Break MC, use CC only from this point onwards.
Next Row: Purl.
Ribbing
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p1, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P2, *k1, p2; rep from * to end.
Row 3: K2, p1, k2tog, yo, *(p1, k2) twice, p1, k2tog, yo; rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, k2.
Row 4: Rep Row 2.
Row 5: Rep Row 1.
Row 6: Rep Row 2.
BO all sts in patt.
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Wet block lightly being careful not to overstretch.
Once completely dry sew on buttons lining them up with the buttonholes.
Insert cushion pad.

Hello Gertrude! No you don’t need bobbins, it’s stranded colorwork so can work just using the two different color balls of wool. Hope that helps! – Nicola
