Seamless Pinwheel Hat

Who doesn’t love a project without seaming? This simple and cozy hat is so easy to make, it’s bound to make its way to the top of your to-knit list.

Skill Level: Easy

Size: One size fits most

Gauge: 2.5 sts and 3 rows = 1” in stockinette st

Materials

Yarn: Rowan Big Wool (100% merino; 87 yards [80 meters]/100 grams): #001 White Hot (1 ball)
Needles: US size 15 (10.0 mm) circular needles
Notions : Stitch marker, tapestry needle 

Pattern

CO 40 sts. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist. PM to mark beg of round.
Knit 2 rnds.
Rnd 1: Ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k1.
Rnd 2: K2, p5, k3.
Rnd 3: K1, yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo, k2.
Rnd 4: K3, p3, k4.
Rnd 5: K2, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, k3.
Rnd 6: K4, p1, k5.
Rnd 7: K3, yo, s2k1p2sso, yo, k4.
Rnd 8: P3, k3, p4.
Rnd 9: K2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k3.
Rnd 10: P2, k5, p3.
Rnd 11: K1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k2.
Rnd 12: P1, k7, p2.
Rnd 13: K2tog, yo, k5, yo, ssk, k1.
Rnd 14: K9, p1.
Rnd 15: Yo, k7, yo, s2k1p2sso.
Rnd 16: K10.

Work rnds 1-16 of chart.

Shape Crown

Next rnd: K9, ssk, [k8, ssk] 2 times, k8, ssk with first st of next rnd.
Next rnd: K8, ssk, [k7, ssk] 2 times, k7, ssk with first st of next rnd.
Next rnd: K7, ssk, [k6, ssk] 2 times, k6, ssk with first st of next rnd.
Continue decreasing working 1 st less between each ssk, until 9 sts remain on needle.

Finishing

Cut yarn, thread tail onto tapestry needle, draw tail through rem sts twice, pull tight, and fasten off to WS of hat. Wet block.

    Hello. Shouldn’t round 1 of the pattern have another yo? It seems that round 1 should be: yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k1.

    • I agree! There is only 9 stitches in this section, where all others make 10 stitches… please reply, I would like to do this pattern correctly.

      • Tried to make this hat, and the pattern just kept increasing the stitches. I quit. I ripped it out… ended up looking like a hot holey mess. Too bad, cute pictue.
