Materials

Medium weight yarnYarn: O- Wool Balance (50% certified organic merino, 50% certified organic cotton; 130 yards [120 meters]/50 grams): Agate (MC, 2 (3, 3, 3) skeins), Natural (CC, 1 (1, 1, 1) skein), Cinnabar (CC2, 1 (1, 1, 1) skein)
Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) (16”) circular and double pointed needles, US size 3 (3.25 mm) (16”) circular and double pointed needles
Notions: Tapestry needle, snap Tape (1” wide), thread, waste yarn 

Special Stitches

K1, P1 Rib
Row 1: *K1, p1; repeat to end of rnd.
Repeat Row 1 for pattern. 

Hat Pattern

Using CC, CO 56 (64, 72, 80, 88) sts. PM and join to work in the round. Work K1, P1 Rib for 1”.
Knit 1 rnd.
Switch to CC2 and knit 4 rnds.
Switch to MC and knit until hat measures 3.5 (3.5, 4, 5, 5.5) inches from cast on edge.
Switch to CC and knit for 2 rnds.
Dec Rnd: *K6, k2tog; repeat from * to end of rnd. (49 (56, 63, 70, 77) st)
Knit 1 rnd.
Switch to CC2.
Dec Rnd: *K5, k2tog; repeat from * to end of rnd. (42 (48, 54, 60, 66) sts)
Knit 2 rnds.
Switch to CC.
Dec Rnd: *K4, k2tog; repeat from * to end of rnd. (35 (40, 45, 50, 55) sts)
Knit 1 rnd.
Dec. Rnd: *K3, K2tog; repeat from * to end of rnd. (28 (32, 36, 40, 44) sts)
Dec. Rnd: *K2, K2tog; repeat from * to end of rnd. (21 (24, 27, 30, 33) sts)
Dec. Rnd: K1 (0, 1, 0, 1) *K2Tog, repeat from * to end of rnd. (11 (12, 14, 15, 17) sts)
Cut yarn leaving a 12” tail. Weave tail through all remaining sts and pull tight to close.
Using CC2, make a 3” pom-pom and secure to top of hat. Weave in all ends. Wash and block as desired.

Romper Pattern

With smaller circular needle and CC, CO 47 (49, 55, 61) sts as follows:
11 (11, 13, 13) sts, pm, 6 (6, 6, 8) sts, pm, 16 (18, 20, 22) sts, pm, 6 (6, 6, 8) sts, pm, 8 (8, 10, 10) sts.
Row 1 (WS): Knit.
Row 2 (RS): Knit.
Row 4 (WS): Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, yo, k1.
Switch to larger circular needles and CC2,
Row 5 (RS): (increase row) *knit to 1 st before m, kf/b, sm, kf/b, repeat from * to end of row. (8 sts increased)
Row 6 (WS): K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 7 (RS): Repeat INCREASE ROW.
Row 8 (WS): K3, purl to last 3 sts, k2tog, yo, k1.
Row 9 (RS): Switch to MC and repeat INCREASE ROW.
Row 10 (WS): K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Join to work in the round as follows:
Rnd 1 (RS): Move 3 sts from Rt needle, hold to back and k2tog with 3 sts from left needle, join to begin working in the rnd, place a different type of marker to distinguish the start of the round, *knit to 1 st before m, kf/b, sm, kf/b, repeat from * to the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Knit 1 rnd.
Rnd 3: [INCREASE RND] *knit to 1 st before m, kf/b, sm, kf/b, repeat from * to the end of the rnd.
Repeat rnds 2 and 3 until yoke measures 3 (3.5,4, 4)”, making sure to end with an increase rnd. [38 (42, 46, 50) back and front sts, 28 (30, 32, 34) sleeve sts, 132 (144, 156, 168 sts total]

Separate Sleeves

Knit to 1st m, slip 28 (30, 32, 34) sleeve sts to waste yarn, CO 2 sts, remove m, knit to next marker, remove m, slip 28 (30, 32, 34) sleeve sts to waste yarn, CO 2 sts, sm, knit to end of rnd. (80 (88, 96, 104) sts)
Knit until piece measures 10.5 ( 13.5, 14.5, 15.5)” from CO edge.

Gusset

Knit to EOR m, *m1R, sm, k1, m1L, knit to second m, m1R, sm, k1, m1L, knit to end of rnd.
Knit 1 rnd.
Next Rnd: *m1R, sm, k2, m1L, knit to second m, repeat from *.
Repeat last 2 rnds, until there are 8 sts between the m1R and m1L.
Knit 1 rnd to 1 st before EOR m, slip next 10 sts to waste yarn, turn and purl 40 sts, slip next 10 sts to waste yarn. Continue working in St st, flat, across 40 sts, until leg measures 2 (2.5, 2.75, 3)”.
Switch to CC2 and knit 4 rows.
Switch to CC, knit 1 row.
Change to size 3 needles, and work k1, p1 rib for 1”. Bind off in rib pattern.

Gusset Button Band

With smaller needles and CC, with RS facing and starting at the bottom right corner, pick up and knit 15 sts, move 10 held sts on to spare needles and knit across, pick up and knit 15 sts down left side. Work in k1, p1 rib for 1.5 inches. Bind off in rib pattern.
Repeat Gusset Button Band for left side.

Sleeves

Move 28 (30, 32, 34) sleeve sts to DPNs. Using MC, knit around sleeve sts, pick up and knit 2 sts, pm, pick up and knit 2 sts.
Knit 3 rnds.
Dec Rnd: K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts before m, ssk, k1.
Knit 1 rnd.
Switch to CC2 and knit 4 rnds.
Switch to CC and size 3 dpns, knit 1 rnd. Work k1, p1 rib for 3 rnds. Bind off in rib pattern.

Button Bobbles (Make 2)

Using CC2 and smaller needles, CO 1 st.
Kf/b 4 times on 1 st.
Turn, *purl 4 sts, turn, knit 4 sts; repeat from * once, and do not turn after last k4. Pass the second, third and fourth stitch over the first st and off the needle. Cut yarn leaving a 6” tail and pull through the remaining st.

Finishing

Using a sewing machine, or needle and thread, sew snap tape on the gusset button band. Sew Bobble Buttons opposite button holes. Weave in all ends. Wash and block.
