Georgine Ruffle Gloves

Materials

Super fine weight yarnYarn: Lang Yarns Jawoll Superwash 75/25 (75% Wool, 25% Nylon; 230 yards [210 meters]/50 grams): 05 Grey (2 (2) balls).

Needles: US size 1.5 (2.5 mm) circular or DPNs; US size 3 (3.25 mm) circular or DPNs.

Notions: Markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle.

Abbreviations

M1l = Insert left needle from front to back into bar between first stitch on left needle and last stitch on right needle, ktbl. (1 st increased)

M1r = Insert left needle from back to front into bar between first stitch on left needle and last stitch on right needle, knit. (1 st increased)

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in the round, starting at the cuff.

After finishing the palm all stitches are moved to waste yarn, then stitches are used from both the front and the back of the glove to knit the fingers.

The ruffles are added after finishing the glove by picking up stitches in the purl rounds on the cuff.

Cuff

With smaller needles, CO 60 (68) sts, join to work in the rnd.

Rnds 1-7: Knit.
Rnd 8: *K2tog, yo; rep from * to end.
Rnds 9-15: Knit.

Rnd 16: Fold piece and knit each st together with 1 st from the CO edge to create picot edge.

Rnds 17-23: Knit.

Rnd 24: Purl.

Rnds 25-31: Knit.

Rnd 32: Purl.

Rnds 33- 42: Knit.

Right Hand Gusset

Rnd 1: K1, pm, m1r, pm, k to end.

Rnd 2: K1, sm, m1r, k1, m1l, sm, k to end.

Rnd 3: Knit.

Rnd 4: K1, sm, m1r, k to m, m1l, sm, k to end.

Rnd 5: Knit.

Rep Rnds 4-5 until there are 25 sts between markers, ending with Rnd 5.

Left Hand Gusset

Rnd 1: Knit to last st, pm, m1r, pm, k to end.

Rnd 2: K to m, sm, m1r, k1, m1l, sm, k to end.

Rnd 3: Knit.

Rnd 4: K to m, sm, m1r, k to m, m1l, sm, k to end.

Rnd 5: Knit.

Rep Rnds 4-5 until there are 25 sts between markers, ending with Rnd 5.

Right Palm

Rnd 1: K1, sm, move sts after marker to waste yarn, CO 1 st using backward loop CO, remove marker, k to end.

Rnd 2: K1, remove marker, k2tog, k to end.

Rnd 3: Knit.

Rep Rnd 3 until Palm meas approx. 1.25” / [3 cm] or has reached the base of your fingers.

Left Palm

Rnd 1: Knit to marker, sm, move sts after marker to waste yarn, CO 1 st using backward loop CO, remove marker, k to end.

Rnd 2: Knit to mr, remove marker, k2tog.

Rnd 3: Knit.

Rep Rnd 3 until Palm meas approx. 1.25” / [3 cm] or has reached the base of your fingers.

Index Finger

Rnd 1: Move all sts to waste yarn, maintaining the beginning of the rnd. Slip the first and last 9 (10) sts back on the needles, k9 (10) sts, CO 3 sts using backward loop CO, k9 (10), join to work in the rnd. (21 (23) sts)

Rnd 2: Knit.

Rep Rnd 2 until Index Finger meas 0.125” / [0.5 cm] shorter than desired length.

Rnd 3: K2tog 10 (11) times, k1 (1). (11 (12) sts)

Rnd 4: K2tog 5 (6) times, k1 (0). (6 (6) sts)

Rnd 5: K2tog 3 times. (3 sts)

Cut the yarn and pull through the sts to close the fingertip.

Middle Finger

Rnd 1: Move the next 7 (8) sts and the last 7 (8) sts from the waste yarn to the needles, pick up 3 sts from the CO edge of the index finger, k7 (8), CO 3 sts using backward loop CO, k7 (8), join to work in the rnd. (20 (22) sts)

Rnd 2: Knit.

Rep Rnd 2 until Index Finger is meas 0.125” / [0.5 cm] shorter than desired length.

Rnd 3: K2tog 10 (11) times. (10 (11) sts)

Rnd 4: K2tog 5 (5) times, k0 (1). (5 (6) sts)

Rnd 5: K2tog 2 (3) times, k1 (0). (3 sts)

Cut the yarn and pull through the sts to close the fingertip.

Ring Finger

Rnd 1: Move the next 7 (8) sts and the last 7 (8) sts from the waste yarn to the needles, pick up 3 sts from the CO edge of the middle finger, k7 (8), CO 3 sts using backward loop CO, k7 (8), join to work in the rnd. (20 (22) sts)

Rnd 2: Knit.

Rep Rnd 2 until Index Finger is meas 0.125” / [0.5 cm] shorter than desired length.

Rnd 3: K2tog 10 (11) times. (10 (11) sts)

Rnd 4: K2tog 5 (5) times, k0 (1). (5 (6) sts)

Rnd 5: K2tog 2 (3) times, k1 (0). (3 sts)

Cut the yarn and pull through the sts to close the fingertip.

Little Finger

Rnd 1: Move the last 14 (16) sts from the waste yarn back on the needles, pick up 3 sts form the CO edge of the ring finger, k14 (16), join to work in the rnd. (17 (19) sts)

Rnd 2: Knit.

Rep Rnd 2 until Index Finger meas 0.125” / [0.5 cm] shorter than desired length.

Rnd 3: K2tog 8 (9) times, k1 (1). (9 (10) sts)

Rnd 4: K2tog 4 (5) times, k1 (0). (5 (5) sts)

Rnd 5: K2tog 2 (2) times, k1 (1). (3 sts)

Cut the yarn and pull through the sts to close the fingertip.

Thumb

Set-up Rnd: Pick up 25 held sts from waste yarn with smaller needles, pick up 3 sts in the gap between the thumb gusset and the glove, k across held sts and join to k in the rnd. (28 sts)

Rnd 1: Knit.

Rnd 2: K3, k2tog, k21, ssk. (26 sts)

Rnd 3: Knit.

Rnd 4: K3, k2tog, k19, ssk. (24 sts)

Rnd 5: Knit.

Rnd 6: K3, k2tog, k17, ssk. (22 sts)

Rnd 7: Knit.

Rnd 8: K3, k2tog, k15, ssk. (20 sts)

Rnds 9-19: Knit.

Rnd 20: (K2tog, k2) 5 times. (15 sts)

Rnd 21: (K2tog, k1) 5 times. (10 sts)

Rnd 22: K2tog 5 times. (5 sts)

Cut yarn and pull through sts.

Ruffle

Set-up Rnd: with the fingers of the glove facing towards you pick up 60 (68) sts in the purl rnd closest to the edge of the cuff using smaller needles, join to work in the rnd. Switch to larger needles.

Rnd 1: Knit.

Rnd 2: Purl.

Rnd 3: Knit.

Rnd 4: Purl.

Rnd 5: Kfb around.

Rnd 6: Purl.

Rnd 7: Kfb around.

Rnd 8: Purl.

Rnd 9: Knit.

BO all sts.

Rep for the second ruffle, picking up sts in the second purl rnd on the cuff.

Finishing

Weave in ends.
