Size: 22” circumference x 9.5” height, blocked.
Gauge: 36 sts and 40 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Stranded pattern stitch after wet blocking
Materials
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Heritage (75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25 % Nylon; 437 yards [400 meters]/100 grams): #5672 Real Black (MC, 1 skein), #5682 White (CC, 1 skein)
Needles: US size 2 (2.75 mm) two 24” circular
Notions: Markers, tapestry needle
Special Stitches
Twisted Garter Edging (worked flat)
With MC, CO required number of sts.
Row 1: With MC, knit.
Rows 2-3: Attach CC and knit with CC.
Rows 4-5: With MC, knit.
Rows 6-7: With CC, knit.
Row 8: With MC, knit.
Row 9 (WS): With MC, k3, *bring left needle to front, then under work and up the back, twisting the edging, k6; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
Pattern Notes
Carry yarn not in use loosely along the inside of the work. Avoid twisting yarns when changing colors.
Pattern
With MC, CO 180 sts, do not join.
Work Twisted Garter Edging Rows 1-9.
Make second Twisted Garter Edging to match and set aside.
PM and join to work in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts.
Begin Rnd 1 of Arctic Sea Cowl chart and work chart 10 times across row.
Work Rnds 1-18 a total of 4 times, then Rnds 1-2 once more.
Finishing
With MC, graft second Twisted Garter Edging to top of cowl.
Weave in all ends. Wash and wet block to size.
