Gauge: 18.5 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking.
Materials
Yarn:
Artesano Yarns Artesano Aran (50% Alpaca, 50% Wool; 144 yards [132 meters]/100 grams): C022 Monkey Puzzle, 9 (10, 11, 12) balls.
Needles: US size 7 (4.5 mm): straight and 24” circular (to accommodate large amount of sts).
Notions: 4 Lockable markers; stitch holders; tapestry needle; 6 (6, 7, 7) ¾” buttons
Pattern Notes
The pattern is work flat. There is a small amount of short row shaping at the back of the neck.
The length of both body and sleeve can be easily adjusted, as can the sleeve circumference.
Pattern
Back
Using circular needle, CO 133 (145, 153, 161) sts.
Row 1 (RS): *K1tbl, p1; rep from * to last st, k1tbl.
Row 2: Knit. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 2″ [5 cm].
Next Row (RS): *K1tbl, p1; rep from * to last st, k1tbl.
Next Row: Purl.
Beginning with a k row, work in St st until piece measures 21 (21, 21, 20½)” from CO. Place a lockable marker at each end of row to mark Sleeve placement.
Cont in St st until piece measures 25 (26, 27, 27)”.
Bind off all sts.
Fronts (both worked the same)
CO 51 (57, 61, 65) sts, work in reverse broken rib until piece measures 2″ [5 cm].
Next Row (RS): *P1, k1tbl; rep from * to last st, p1.
Next Row: Purl.
Beginning with a k row, work in St st until piece measures 21 (21, 21, 20½)” from CO. Place a lockable marker at each end of row to mark for Sleeve placement. Cont in St st until piece measures 25 (26, 27, 27)”.
Bind off all sts.
Seam both shoulders.
Sleeves
Right Sleeve
Using straight needles and with RS facing, pick up and k38 (42, 46, 50) sts between right front marker and right back marker.
Next Row: Knit.
Next Row: *K1tbl, p1; rep from * across row.
Rep last 2 rows until Sleeve measures 12 (12½, 13, 13½)” or desired length.
Left Sleeve
Using straight needles, with RS facing, pick up and k38 (42, 46, 50) sts between left back marker and left front marker.
Next Row: Knit.
Next Row: *K1tbl, p1; rep from * across row.
Rep last 2 rows until Sleeve measures 12 (12½, 13, 13½)” or desired length.
Front Bands and Collar
Using circular needle and with RS facing, pick up and knit 115 (121, 127, 127) sts up right front edge, 31 sts back neck, 115 (121,127, 127) sts down left front – 261 (273, 285, 285) sts.
Row 1 (WS): K111, pm, k39 (51, 63, 63), pm, k111.
Row 2: *K1tbl, p1; rep from * to last st, k1tbl.
Rows 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11: Knit.
Rows 4, 8, and 10: Work in patt as established to 2nd m, w&t, work to first m, w&t, work in patt to end of row. Remember to pick up wraps on returning rows.
Row 6 (Buttonhole Row): (K1tbl, p1) twice, k2tog, yo, *(k1tbl, p1) 6 times, k2tog, yo; rep from * 4 (4, 5, 5) times more, work to 2nd m, w&t, work to first m, w&t, work in pattern to end of row.
Bind off all sts knit wise.
Finishing
Seam sides and sleeves.
Weave in ends and block to measurements.
Sew on buttons.
