Field of Daisies Shawl

The Field of Daisies shawl was inspired by the floral trend appearing on the runways and can bring a little bit of the color and quirk to your wardrobe. The shawl is designed with the patterning of delicate daisy motifs and simple garter stitch borders. The daisies pattern is worked at the two short ends of the shawl (option 1), but it can also be repeated throughout the shawl (option 2).

Pattern Notes

The Option 2 of the shawl is worked back and forth in one piece, from one short end to the other, with 6 repeats of the daisies pattern.

The white daisies are worked using the intarsia method with the MC carried behind the work. The yellow parts of the pattern are embroidered at the end on the finished piece, using the duplicate stitch.

Short Rows

To ensure that the sections in garter st are level with the rest of the sts, work a short row over the 10 sts in garter st of each side border every 14 rows worked, as follows:

Right Side Edge (RS): Work sts in garter st, turn work, (WS) work sts in garter st again, turn work, (RS) work all sts as they correspond.

Left Side Edge (WS): Work sts in garter st, turn work, (RS) work sts in garter st again, turn work, (WS) work all sts as they correspond.

To avoid the creation of holes on the turning points, on the last turn, work 9 sts in garter st, sl next st to RH needle, lift right arm of st directly below the one on your LH needle, knit sl st together with lifted st.
