These pillows are quick and easy to knit—and can easily be done in a day of knitting. Once you’re finished with your pillows, keep reading for a step-by-step guide on seaming.

Size: Square pillow 14 x 14”; Rectangular Pillow 16 x 12”
Gauge: Square Pillow: 2.5 sts and 3.5 rows = 3” in 1×1 rib; Rectangular Pillow: 2 sts and 5 rows = 4” in seed stitch
Materials
Yarn: BagSmith Big Stitch Merino (94% merino wool, 6% nylon; 125 yards [114 meters]/1134 grams): Light Grey (1 bump)
Needles: US size 50 (25.0 mm) 24” circular knitting needle and an extra needle in the same size for the three needle bind off.
Notions: 14 x 14” pillow form, 12 x 16” pillow form
Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked in the round, the one side is bound off with a three needle bind off and the other is seamed. If you don’t have another US 50 needle for the three needle bind off you can either graft the ends together using your fingers, or bind off and seam shut. Please see the accompanying tutorial on how to seam the pillow.
Tip: Instead of measuring the work of your knitting, try placing the pillow form inside the pillow to check the length of your work.
Square Pillow Pattern
Square Pillow is worked from bottom to top.
CO 18 sts using the backwards loop method, join to knit in the round, being careful not to twist.
Rib Rnd: *K1, p1* to end.
Continue working in Rib until work measures 14” from CO edge.
Using another needle BO all sts using the three needle BO method, or an alternative described above.
Finishing
Turn work inside out, so seam from the three needle bind off is on the inside. Insert pillow form and seam the remaining open side of the pillow.
Rectangular Pillow Pattern
The rectangular pillow is worked from one end to the other.
CO 16 sts using the backwards loop method, join to knit in the round, being careful not to twist.
Rnd 1: *K1, p1* to end.
Rnd 2: *P1, k1* to end.
Repeat Rnds 1-2 until work measures 16” from CO edge.
Using another needle BO all sts using the three needle BO method, or an alternative described above.
Finishing
Turn work inside out, so seam from the three needle bind off is on the inside. Insert pillow form and seam the remaining open side of the pillow.
