Yarn:
Malabrigo Rios (100% merino; 210 yards [192 meters]/100 grams): Piedra (1 skein)
Needles: US size 6 (4.0 mm) or 7 (4.5 mm) 16’’ circular needles, or sizes needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Yarn needle, large pompom maker
Abbreviations
Sl1-k1-psso: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit one, pass slipped st over
Sl2-k1-p2sso: Slip 2 stitches as if to knit, knit one, pass slipped sts over
Pattern
With smaller needles and using Long Tail Cast On, CO 96 sts, place marker and join in the round being careful not to twist sts.
Work Seed Ribbing Pattern
Rnd 1: *k3, p1, repeat from * to end.
Rnd 2: P1, k1, *p3, k1, repeat from * to 2 sts before end, p2.
Repeat rnds 1 and 2 (10) times in total.
Switch to bigger needles and work chart twice and then Rnds 1-6 once more.
Crown Section
Rnd 1: *k2tog* repeat from * to end.
Rnd 2: K to end.
Rnds 3-4: Repeat rnds 1 and 2 once more.
Break the yarn leaving a long tail and with the yarn needle pass the tail through the remaining stitches, close tight and weave in ends. Block lightly. With the Pompom maker make a big pompom, attach it to the center of the crown.
