The Abigail Cowl is a quick-to-stitch project that makes a lovely gift for the girl who isn’t afraid to be bold! Easy stitch combinations create a beautiful lace texture and solid garter stitch edging frames it in nicely. Add an optional drawstring to cinch it up and keep out the cold. Fun faux fur pom poms add additional texture and finish it off fabulously!

Needles: US size 15 (10 mm) circular, US size 15 (10 mm) two DPNs
Notions: 2 Bernat faux fur pom poms (Brown Muskrat), tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker
Pattern Notes
Worked in the round from the bottom up.
Top and bottom edges are worked in print yarn in garter stitch.
Center is worked solid yarn in mesh lace stitch.
Stitch pattern worked over an even number of stitches.
Pattern
CO 60 sts, place a marker and join for working in the rnd, being careful to not twist the sts.
Rnd 1: Purl
Rnd 2: Knit
Rnd 3-4: Rep Rnds 1-2
Rnd 5: Purl (switch colors if desired)
Rnd 6: *Yo, k2tog; rep from * around.
Rnd 7: Knit.
Rnd 8: *K2tog, yo; rep from * around.
Rnd 9: Knit.
Rnds 10-40: Rep Rnds 6-9.
Rnd 41: Knit.
Rnd 42: Purl.
Rnds 43-46: Rep Rnds 41-42.
BO all sts.
Drawstring
Using DPNs, work I-cord for approximately 60”. Fasten off leaving ends unwoven.
Along the top edge of the mesh lace section (in between top edge and where lace begins) weave the Drawstring in and out of decorative lace holes. Use ends to tie on pom poms at either end of the drawstring.
Finishing
Weave in any remaining ends.
