Yarn: Hoooked Ribbon XL (60% recycled cotton, 20% other recycled fibres, 20% lurex; 93 yards [85 meters]/250 grams): RXLlur8 Stardust Bronze (1 cone)

 

Needles: US size 17 (12 mm) straight needles

Notions: tapestry needle, 1.1 yards [1 meter] of chain, 1 tuck lock clasp, 2 Wool and the Gang Trigger Rings, sewing needle, sewing thread.

This bag is worked in 3 flat pieces that are seamed together. The strap is worked using a macrame square knot, then attached to the bag.

Handle

Cut two lengths of yarn, 1.3 yards [1.2 meters] and 5.25 yards [4.8 meters]. Fold both lengths in half and secure center points together, so that the shorter lengths are in the middle and longer lengths are on the outside. Using Square Knots, tie the longer lengths over the shorter lengths until you reach the end. Secure ends, and sew into a loop. Cut 1.1 yards [1 meter] length of yarn and wrap around handle tightly, then tuck ends in and secure in place with a few stitches using sewing thread.

Finishing

With WS facing, sew front panel to gusset panel. Rep with back panel. Fold flap over bag and attach tuck lock clasp following manufacturer’s instructions. Attach trigger rings to sides of bag and attach chain and handle to each side. Cut 1.1 yards [1 meter] length of yarn and weave through chain, securing each end with a few stitches using sewing thread. Weave in all ends.
