Alternating Cable CO
Using the long-tail method, CO 2 sts. *wyif, insert right needle from back to front between first 2 sts on left needle, wrap yarn as if to purl and draw yarn through, transfer st kwise to left needle (1 purl st CO), wyib, insert right needle from front to back between first 2 sts on left needle, wrap yarn as if to knit and draw yarn through, transfer st kwise to left needle (1 knit st CO); rep from * until desired number of sts are CO.
Stripe 1 pattern (multiple of 4 sts + 2):
Row 1 (RS): Using schematic as color guide, join next color, sl1 pwise wyif and k56, *join next color and k56; rep from * two more times, k1.
Row 2 (WS): Sl1 pwise wyif, *k2, p2; rep from * to last st, working 56 sts in each of 4 colors, k1.
Rows 3-26: Rep Row 2.
Fasten off all yarns.
Stripe 2 pattern (multiple of 4 sts + 2):

Pattern notes
This blanket is worked in 14 multicolored stripes using intarsia knitting technique. Each stripe is worked in 4 different color blocks, with 4 separate balls of yarn at the same time. The yarn is always twisted on WS when changing colors, as well in RS as in WS row; unused yarn is leaved hanging at the back, picking up on the next row and fastened off at the end of last row.
All stitches of the first row of any color change are always worked as knit stitch to avoid purl dash lines on RS.
Selvage stitches (one extra stitch on each side of the blanket) are added to create a neater edge. Slip selvage stitch at beginning of K2, P2 Rib pwise, with yarn in front (wyif) and at beginning of P2, K2 Rib kwise, with yarn in back (wyib).
Circular needles are used to accommodate large number of sts. Do not join, work in rows.
Pattern
Using Alternating Cable method, CO 57 sts (56 sts + 1 selvage st) with CC10, 56 sts with CC7, 56 sts with CC5, 57 sts (56 sts + 1 selvage st) with CC1. (226 sts)
Row 1 (RS): Sl1 pwise wyif, then work in K2, P2 Rib until last st as follows: 56 sts with CC1, 56 sts with CC5, 56 sts with CC7 and 56 sts with CC10, k1.
Rows 2-26: work Rows 2-26 of Stripe 1 pattern.
Fasten off all yarns.
Rows 27-52: Using schematic as a color guide, work Rows 1-26 of Stripe 2 pattern.
Rows 53-78: Using schematic as a color guide, work Rows 1-26 of Stripe 1 pattern.
Rep Rows 27-78 five more times, then Rows 27-52 once more.
