Freshwater Fringe Shawl

This design is an easy but outstanding wrap with simple lace patterns. Worked from one tip to the other, this shawl design is versatile because gauge is not crucial. Switch on your imagination and get heavier yarn to create a shawl that’s perfect for even colder weather.

Skill Level: Easy

Size: 122” [310 cm] measuring along the longest side, 27,5” [70 cm] deep, after blocking

Gauge: 14 sts and 20 rows using larger needles = 4” [10 cm] in lace pattern after wet blocking

Yarn: Madelinetosh Twist Light (75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon; 420 yards [384 meters]/100 grams): Cloud Dweller (3 skeins)

Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) 24” straight or circular needles

Notions: Markers, tapestry needle

Abbreviations

wyif – with yarn in front of work

double yo – wrap yarn around right needle twice

W&T (wrap and turn) – bring yarn in front of work, slip next st from left needle to right needle, bring yarn to back, slip st back to left needle, turn work

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked from one tip to another.

Gauge in this project is not crucial. All you should do to begin it is to choose yarn approximately the same weight and a suitable needle size. Switch on your imagination and get heavier yarn to result in a shawl for fall\winter season.

The fringe is made afterwards.
