Tassel (make 12)
- Cut (1) length of yarn to 30” (76 cm).
- Cut (25) lengths of yarn to 11” (28 cm).
- Lay the centers of the 25 strands perpendicular across center of 30” strand. With 30” strand, tie a knot around the 25 strands. Place both tails of the 30” ties up which will be how you tie tassels together. The tails of the 25 strands should face down. They are now half their original length and create 50 strands.
- Cut (1) length of yarn to 54” (137 cm).
- Leaving a 10” (25 cm) tail, wrap the 54” length of yarn around the 50 strands approximately 1” (25 mm) from the tie strands. Wrap it around the 50 strands tightly 8-10 times. Tie a knot. Weave those two tails up over the wrap and down through the center of the tassel alongside the 50 strands.
- Trim the end of the tassel straight.
- Make 12 tassels total.
Triple Tassel Assembly
Stacking tassels from bottom to top as follows
- Place both strands of ties of one tassel (bottom tassel) on a tapestry needle. String 3 beads on tassel. Insert needle through center of second tassel (center tassel). Tie the bottom tassel off at top of center tassel. Weave ends of bottom tassel back down through center of second tassel and trim to match length of second tassel.
- Place both strands of ties of center tassel on a tapestry needle. As before, string 3 beads and insert needle through third tassel (top tassel). Tie center tassel off at top of top tassel. Weave ends back down through center of top tassel and trim to match length of top tassel.
- Triple tassel is made and ties at top of top tassel are available to secure it to corner of scarf.
- Make 4 triple tassels total and secure one to each corner of scarf. Weave in ends.
