Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked from the centre top down. Stitches are increased at each side on
every other row to create an elongated crescent shape. Through the knitted cast on method the lace border is worked sideways and joined to the body. The lace edge instructions are both written and charted.
Pattern

Next Row (RS): K3, (kfb) twice, k to 4 sts from end, (kfb) twice, k3 – 4 sts inc’d; 281 sts.
Next Row (WS): K3, yo, k to 3 sts from end, yo, k3 – 2 sts inc’d; 283 sts.
Rep last 2 rows, 6 more times – 319 sts.
Change to CC.
Rep last 2 rows once more – 6 sts inc’d; 325 sts.
Border
Note: As you work the border, the last stitch of each RS row is attached to the main body of the shawl by working an ssk (1 st from border with 1 st from shawl body), turn work, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, work WS row to end.
With RS facing and using the Cable Cast-On method, CO 38 sts onto LH needle.
Working from charts or written instructions, work Rows 1-24 of Lace Stitch Pattern 27 times total.
BO all sts purlwise.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Block shawl to finished measurements in a crescent shape.
Thank you very much. I am very excited to get “restarted” on this shawl pattern.
At the Garter Tab cast On: There are 17 sets on needle after ‘set up’ row. Row 1 (rs):
K3, (Kfb) twice, k to 4 sts from end, (kfb) twice, k3 – 4 sts added; 21 sts. But if there are only 4 sts left and you have to kfb twice, it only leaves 2 sts. I’m confused. Help! What am I reading wrong?
Hello! I’ve reached out to the designer for advice and she or I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks! – Nicola, Editor
Hello! After chatting with the designer, we’ve updated the pattern with the following information:
At the Garter Tab cast On: There are 17 sets on needle after ‘set up’ row. Row 1 (rs):
K3, (Kfb) twice, k to 5 sts from end, (kfb) twice, k3 – 4 sts added; 21 sts
Instead of 4 sts from the end, it is 5 sts from the end.
