This darling baby hat adorned with three easy-to-make flowers is perfect for keeping your little one cozy. Plus, it’s easy enough for even beginners to enjoy!

Size: Newborn to 3 months
Gauge: 2 ½ stitches long by 3 rows high = 1 sq. inch
Materials
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver (100% acrylic; 364 yards [333 meters]/198 grams): Perfect Pink (1 skein)
Needle: US size 7 mm needles
Notions: Yarn needle, pearls or buttons for flower centers (optional)
Pattern
Working with 2 strands of yarn, held together throughout, cast on 38 stitches.
Row 1: *k1, p1. Repeat from * to end.
Row 2: *p1, k1. Repeat from * to end.
Row 3: *k1, p1. Repeat from * to end.
Row 4: K across.
Row 5: P across.
Rows 6-16: Repeat rows 4 and 5.
Row 17 (dec): K2tog across. (18 stitches)
Row 18: P across.
Row 19 (dec): K2tog across. (9 stitches)
BO purlwise.
Leave a long yarn end. Thread the yarn end into a yarn needle, weave through the last row of stitches, pull to gather and close up the top of the hat, then sew up the back seam of the hat.
Weave all yarn ends into the finished work.
Flower
Work with one strand or 2 strands. (Grey and white flowers were made using only 1 strand.)
Cast on 40 to 60 stitches. Knit across the row, binding off each stitch as you proceed.
Leave a long yarn end, and thread into a yarn needle.
Beginning at the opposite end, roll into a loose coil, pass the needle across the coils, passing through all layers. Continue back and forth clock-wise to secure all the layers together.
Weave yarn ends into the finished work.
Sew a pearl or button in the centers of the flowers, and sew the flowers onto the hat.
